 Michelangelo’s David sculpture by G. Ruggeri, Italy, is a classical reproduction in alabaster resin. The labels are gone but the mold impressed signature is on the back side of the base. Base bottom lined with green felt. Good vintage condition with age appropriate wear without chips, cracks, dents or repairs, spotting and scuff marks overall but that comes with age. It’s been wiped down but could use a good cleaning/polishing.
Excerpts from Accademia: Michelangelo’s Biblical hero David, the colossal and authentic masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture, created in marble between 1501 and 1504 stands at 14′ high and is currently in the Accademia Gallery of Florence, since 1873, (Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze) in Florence. The Accademia Gallery is very close to the monumental Duomo (Piazza del Duomo).


The account of the battle between David and Goliath is told in Book 1 Samuel. Saul and the Israelites are facing the Philistines near the Valley of Elah. Twice a day for 40 days, Goliath, the champion of the Philistines, comes out between the lines and challenges the Israelites to send out a champion of their own to decide the outcome in single combat.
