Framed silk embroidery from the International HQ of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society for women educators. The society was founded on May 11, 1929, at the Faculty Women’s Club at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. I attended their estate sale in mid-February, where I purchased the item. This framed piece was a gift to the headquarters from Kappa Chapter, Mu State. No idea where that refers to. Extremely well embroidered — looks to be by hand. Silk fabric is beige backing, red & yellow fields of the banner and shield — everything else is embroidery. Asset tag on the backing. Condition: Very Good giftable condition. Textile in great condition since preserved under glass. There is one spot to the left of the top urn and about 10 o’clock from the top tip of the left most leaf garland, as shown in photo #10, where silk has discolored (approximately 1″ Tall x 1.5″ Wide). No frame issues. Dimensions: Frame 22.75″ Wide x 27″ Tall x 1-3/8″ DeepTextile 20″ Wide x 24″ Tall Unpacked weight: 7 pounds Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping.
